The Kittery was founded in 2019 to fill an urgent need in an underserved part of rural Central Texas. Our cats & kittens include strays & abandoned/abused cats from other shelters, city impounds & local residents who cannot afford their care – cats that would have otherwise been euthanized or worse. Our mission is to save as many of them as we can – through fostering, adoption & prevention. Learn more about our prevention program for the community, CatSnip: kitteryrescue.org/catsnip
We are a 501c3 made up of volunteers who’ve spent the last four years rescuing animals together here & at other organizations before The Kittery. We felt that felines were not the focus of enough of the available scarce resources in the area, so we decided to create a new organization dedicated solely to the rescue & care of kittens & cats.

The adoption fee for our kitties is $25, which includes up to 3 FVRCP shots, microchip, wormer and flea & tick treatment.
In these difficult times, we are trying to make it as easy as possible for you to foster or adopt one of our sweet kittens. We’re reducing fees & providing assistance to kitten fosters. And we offer no contact adoptions to limit person-to-person contact. Here is the process:
No-Contact Adoptions Are Available Upon Request
(due to COVID-19)
(1) Find a kitty you like: kitteryrescue.org/kitties
(2) Complete the on-line adoption form: kitteryrescue.org/adoption-questionnaire
(3) You will then be contacted and provided directions to The Kittery
(4) Upon arrival enter The Kittery. Hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes & a sink for hand washing upon arrival and departure is available to our guests. You’ll complete the contract, leave the white copy and take the documents folder… with your new kitty!
Please bring a pet carrier when you arrive to adopt.
The Kittery Kat and Kitten Rescue is committed to finding permanent homes for cats and kittens in the Mexia and Central Texas Area.
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization & your donation is tax-deductible!
Thank you for your support of The Kittery!
Our cats and kittens include strays and abandoned/abused cats from other shelters, city impounds and local residents that would have otherwise been euthanized.
Our cats and kittens are wormed, given the age appropriate FVRCP vaccinations and microchipped. Each kitten who reaches 4 months will be spay and neutered and will receive a rabies vaccination prior to adopting them into responsible loving homes.
